SUMMARY:USF SUMMER DANCE WEEK
DESCRIPTION:The USF Summer Dance Week is designed as a week-long series of intensive classes and workshops. \nEach day will be structured to have 3-4 classes in a variety of forms and styles – These will include African dance\, ballet\, contemporary/modern dance\, improvisation\, jazz\, tap\, commercial dance\, composition\, and more! \nAdditionally\, dancers will be learning new and repertory choreography that they will perform in the end-of-intensive performance. \nOpen to all dancers age 10+ with previous dance training. \nThe USF Summer Week of Dance faculty will include USF dance faculty\, alumni\, and invited guest artists. Current USF dance majors will serve as group mentors. \nAlthough there is not a formal audition process for this intensive workshop\, dancers will be required to submit a brief summary of your dance training and list your current dance teacher’s information (if applicable) during the registration process. The dancers will be split into two-three groups\, based on age\, technical ability\, and number of registered students. \nRegistration Link Coming Soon!

DESCRIPTION:Don’t Miss Legendary Dancer Carlos Acosta’s First Performance in the USA since 2018! \nOn Before is an intimate contemporary ballet for two dancers Carlos Acosta choreographed in 2010 as a tribute to his mother after her death. Acosta will dance with Laura Rodriguez from Acosta Danza\, the company he founded in Havana. On Before is the most personal work he has ever created. \nOn Before features choreography by world-renowned artists\, including Russell Maliphant\, Kim Brandstrup\, and Will Tuckett\, alongside Acosta’s choreography. \nBorn in Havana in 1973\, Acosta trained at the National Ballet School of Havana in Cuba. After winning a succession of awards\, including the Prix de Lausanne in 1990\, he went on to dance professionally with the world’s most prestigious companies\, with London’s Royal Ballet becoming his home. Acosta retired from classical ballet in 2016\, after 28 years. SUMMARY:Derek Hough
DESCRIPTION:Derek Hough is best known for his time on the show Dancing with the Stars in which he won a Primetime Emmy Award. He also won the award in 2013 and 2018 for World of Dance. Hough’s dancing roots began early\, but he was sent to London to study dance with Corky and Shirley Ballas. Here\, he learned multiple forms of dance\, gymnastics\, and theater. In 2002\, Hough won the WDSF World Latin Championship\, as well as the New York Dance Alliance Outstanding Dance Award and LA Outstanding Dancer of the Year. Hough has worked with ice skaters\, made appearances in movies\, and has toured around the world in Derek Hough Live\, his first-ever solo tour.
