DESCRIPTION:projectALCHEMY\, St. Petersburg’s international dance+ company\, in partnership with The Dalí Museum\, presents the Momentum Choreographers Showcase: Moving Surreal on Tuesday\, October 14\, 2025\, and Tuesday\, October 21\, 2025\, at 7:30 p.m. \nStep into the intersection of movement and muralism as the 2025 Momentum Cohort Artists present original choreographic works inspired by the special exhibition Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí. These bold\, immersive performances unfold within the gallery itself—bringing dance directly into conversation with the vibrant murals that surround them. \nPresented in partnership with The Dalí Museum\, Moving Surreal features new works by the 2025 Momentum Choreographic Mentorship Artist Cohort — Madison Pineda Bender\, Justin Brock\, Mariah Mashay\, Fernando Chonqui\, and Faith Elizabeth Miller. Each dance-maker draws inspiration from Outside In\, an exhibition highlighting the 10-year celebration of the SHINE Mural Festival. \nThis year’s artists explore a range of ideas born from surrealist curiosity: from meditations on human resilience and dream states to explorations of connection\, belonging\, and the body as a living archive. Their works blur the line between visual and kinetic art\, inviting audiences to see movement as a mural made momentary. Momentum: Moving Surreal offers a rare chance to witness dance and murals in dialogue—an experience that exists only in the moment it unfolds. To see it live is to capture something fleeting\, where each gesture and brushstroke breathe together for one surreal night. \nAudiences will travel through the Outside In exhibit as a kind of guided performance tour\, encountering each dance in situ among the murals. DESCRIPTION:During their residency at HCC\, Orange Grove Dance (D.C) is hosting a Dance for Camera Screening on Friday\, October 10th | 12:00-1:30 PM in the Mainstage Theatre| Free \nThe workshop showing will showcase the intersection of movement\, cinematography\, and storytelling that has made Orange Grove Dance internationally recognized. \n  \nAbout Orange Grove Dance \nOrange Grove Dance\, under the artistic direction of Colette Krogol and Matt Reeves\, has created a remarkable body of cinematic work that has garnered international acclaim. They have been recognized for creating “visually athletic experiences through the lenses of dance\, film\, and design.” The company’s artistic directors are also 2020 Helen Hayes Award winners for “Outstanding Choreography in a Play\,” and their work has been presented internationally by prestigious venues including The Kennedy Center\, Lincoln Center\, and festivals across Europe and Asia. \nTheir films have screened in cities from Munich\, Germany to Boulder City\, Nevada\, and have received numerous prestigious honors: \n\nTheir film “The Archetypes” won Best Dance Film at the Et Cultura Film Festival\n“The Archetypes” also received the Florida Filmmaker Award at the Et Cultura Film Festival\nThe film was nominated for Best Arthouse Film at the Stockholm Independent Film Festival\n\nThis is a great opportunity for dancers to learn about the growing field of dance for camera\, cinematography techniques\, and interdisciplinary storytelling. \n

SUMMARY:Dance Rising Tampa Bay  - Call to Artists - Grace Gravity Grit
DESCRIPTION:Dance Rising Tampa Bay\nGrace\nGravity\nGrit\nThis an opportunity for local artists to present their dance films in a grassroots project. Four dance film compilations will be created from videos collected from four open calls to Hillsborough County artists. The purpose of this project is to increase awareness and appreciation of the dance arts\, encourage the creation of dance films\, expand the visibility of dance in our county\, and feature local artists. Dance Rising will provide greater access to dance for our area by including free and open calls to artists sent to our eclectic dance community. Free film presentations will be shown in multiple accessible locations. The films will be presented at multiple sites throughout the county and available online.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Call to Artists is for the third of the four dance films to be created. This film will showcase a series of recordings highlighting dancers performing site specific pieces in industrial environments like parking lots\, sporting facilities\, alleys\, parking garages\, and warehouses.
