CHRISTINA ACOSTA

Dance Professor, HCC Dance Program | Board Member

Christina Acosta is an accomplished dance professional and creative leader with over 25 years of experience in the arts. She holds bachelor’s degrees in dance performance and arts administration from Brenau University, as well as a master’s degree in dance and dance education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

 

Christina serves as Professor of Dance at Hillsborough Community College, Tampa Florida, where she is committed to advancing arts education. Alongside directing the department, she instructs a diverse array of courses, creates choreography, writes grants, and oversees the production of six performances annually.

 

Throughout her career, Christina has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at elevating dance within our community. These include the CHOREOworkspace – an incubator for emerging choreographers, the HCC VAPA Dance series – bringing guest artists to share dance in Tampa, facilitating free weekly community dance classes open to everyone and Dancing Dialogues – a unique conversational exploration through movement with dancers from around the world.
