Executive Director/President CEO | Dance Tampa Bay

Shana Corrada (dancer/teacher/choreographer/director) , a graduate of the University of South Florida Dance Department, has over 30 years of experience in the dance community. She trained at Alvin Ailey, New York, and with Joe Goode Dance Theatre, San Francisco.

Teaching primarily in the magnet school system, she was the first middle school teacher to complete the ABT® National Training Curriculum Certified Teacher Program, Primary through Professional (Level 7). Shana was the first teacher to take a group of middle school students to New York to be adjudicated and affiliated with American Ballet Theatre from Florida. Her students from Orange Grove were the first middle school group in North America to be selected for the finals of the Youth American Grand Prix, NY, in 2013.

Teaching and choreographing for many institutions such as Florida Atlantic University, University of Tampa, Eckerd College, St. Petersburg College, Patel Conservatory and Blake Performing Arts High School kept her in communication with educators at all levels of training.

She co wrote the state tests for dance in the public school system including Middle School Dance Final Exams and Ballet 1, High School Final Exam and was instrumental in the creation of Race to the Top (RTTT) Art Assessments for the State of Florida.

As the recipient of the Hillsborough Individual Arts Grant, Shana choreographed The Agreeable Husband produced for the Gasparilla Film Festival with Aimee Sallee, and was also commissioned to create a work, Addiction, in conjunction with Rose Manor, Tampa Crossroads Program for Recovery. She choreographed the opening of the IFFA Bollywood Academy Awards, and was a choreographer and the rehearsal director for The Chocolate Nutcracker, St. Petersburg, FL.

Shana Corrada danced professionally with Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre, IN, and Moving Current Collection, FL. Additionally, Shana acted in Polly Teal’s adaptation of Jane Eyre, playing the principal role of Bertha, for Gorilla Theatre, Tampa FL. Her film work includes The Equus Projects with Lynn Wimmer, produced for the American Dance Festival as well as the feature film, Misconceptions.

Her passions are not limited to the dance world. As an equestrian, she rides up to five days a week, schooling her own German Riding Pony, Cornelius. Recognizing the parallels in dance training and equestrian disciplines, she sought out the Equus Projects, based on the principles of Physical Listening, written and produced by Joanna Mendl Shaw. Bringing the company to Florida for a west coast tour in March of 2023, she had the pleasure of riding in tandem with the dance company.

When she is not traveling with her husband, Santiago, she is home enjoying her animals, which also include an Olde English Bulldog, Rocky and an Old English Sheep-doodle, Charlie. Santiago and Shana share three grown children, Skylar, Austin and Tiffany.
