Dear Dance Enthusiast,

This is an invitation to join a film project in Tampa Bay featuring local artists. We want you to share your passion and dance with us.

Beginning in October 2020 Dance Rising, a collective of NYC dance artists  and administrators, hosted live, hyper-local dance outs of over 200 dancers, uniting the dance field in NYC with joy and purpose. The movement grew in numbers and now includes over 500+ NYC individual dance artists, plus established dance companies like Limon, Ballet Hispanico, Music From The Sole, Flamenco Vivo, Trisha Brown, Heidi Latsky Dance, Kinesis Project dance theatre, The Bang Group, New York Theatre Ballet, Movement of the People and many more.

After 3+ years, 6 dance outs and 13 video compilations, we are honored to be guided by Dance Rising NYC, with Dance Rising Tampa Bay as the first Dance Rising Collective beyond New York City.

In our inaugural year we intend to collect as many dance videos as possible to correctly represent our beautiful city through the art of dance and film.

The end product will be projected onto the Hillsborough Community College Performing Arts Theatre, November 2024, as well as H.W. Blake Performing Arts High School and the University of South Florida Dance Department information kiosks and in the downtown area. We also have a YouTube page dedicated to the production and the edited shorts will be featured on Dance Tampa Bay’s website in the Gallery section.

The most important component of this work is inclusion. Everyone’s voice is important. Every expression of movement is crucial and poignant, without hierarchy or judgment.
